Museum Director Leslie Pielack said the collection took a few months to assemble, but staff has been working intensely for the past six weeks to pull everything together.

“We wanted something that pulls from all kinds of periods that affect Birmingham and how the city developed — something from our collections that tell that story of the very distant past, and also how that takes on a kind of contemporary life,” she said.

“We’re hoping people might like to dress in time-period clothing.

It can go all the way back to the 1700s with Native Americans in the fur trade through (the) 1900s and the rock ‘n’ roll era,” said Sheila Brown of the Birmingham City Clerk’s Office, who’s helping to organize the parade.
